    Remington 700: Quite a transformation

(5/13/2013)For my grad school graduation, my mom and dad (Calgunner: Leatherneck) decided to get me a new rifle. After much deliberation between .223 vs. .308, and Savage vs. Remington, I picked up a Remington 700 in .308, with a Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50 scope, and a Harris bipod. I'm beyond excited to take this out to this range this week!

Here's some low-quality cell phone pics. I will add ones with better resolution ASAP and a range report will follow by the end of the week!

    To this....
    (2/28/2014)

    Remington 700 .308
    Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50
Manners T5A in coyote, action bedded by Tom Manners
    Timney 510 Trigger
    PTG DBM
    Harris BR bipod

Probably won't make it out to the range this weekend since it's going to snow 6-9" and won't get above 30 degrees, but next weekend for sure.

Yours looks exactly like mine did when I first bought it. It's changed a little bit since then.

Picked up mostly PMC (147gr) and some Hornady 168gr Amax match ammo to get me started. Being fresh out of school and living in apartments I haven't had a chance to get into reloading yet. That is the plan for my next purchase but this should get me into the basics at least.

This is my first rifle in anything larger than .223 so I'm pretty excited. I have a lot to learn about precision shooting, but this is my start.

Very nice! I too recently landed my first bolt gun. Remington 700 SPS Varmint TH MZ 20".

Been working on a break-in process I found in Precision Shooting Magazine and almost done.

I somewhat wish I purchased a 308 before my 12ga pump, cause now I'm broke!
