Couple rifles I had forgotten I owned...gotta slow down and smell the guns.

An H&R Handi Rifle in S&W 500 and a Savage Model 24 D in .357 over 20 gauge. Another not so special, but an awesome little shooter lost way back in one of my safes is a Tikka T1X in .22lr. Just get busy with life...sometimes you just gotta slow it down and smell the guns.

Yeah, when I started casting and reloading I just about quit all shooting. I just barely had the time to melt a tiny bit of lead or cast 50 or 100 bullets, maybe powder coat some...it seemed like that's all I could do for a long time that shooting just got pushed back and guns just sat in the safes. I finally told myself that I needed to check in take some time to get caught up with people and things I've left behind. It is a great feeling...

The 24d is a funny beast. I like it as a shotgun, but hate it as a rifle. 357 somehow managed to have significant felt recoil, which is bizarre. It could be a LOP thing, I think mine was about an inch longer than I prefer. Made me sad as I was really excited to own one, but sold it off pretty quickly. I considered picking up a handi in 500, but have a 45-70 already and no 500 handgun so I’ve never picked one up.

Man...you gotta get the Handi 500. I owned a long barrel and the 4" stubby S&W 500's, fun guns but the rifle version... I cast/reload for mine and it has been pure fun. I sold off my both 500 magnum revolvers, but kept my S&W XVR 460. I'll surely pick up another 4" 500 magnum though. 45-70's are great guns, I've a lot of those, in fact, I'm letting go one of my 45-90's.

The Savage 24's are unique. I found mine at a pawn shop, pre-owned, but never fired. I too am looking to buy another but as soon as I see one I like...I stumble on a Remington 870 something I can't pass up lol. For now, I am waiting on my Chaszel 20 gauge to .22 insert which will then make my Savage a 3 gun in 1.

It is really a shame those H&R's were discontinued IMHO. Great pieces for their place.

In a similar vein, I went trap shooting with a friend (my son) today. Took out my A5 that my other son ran the serial number on the Browning web site and says it was made in the 40s. The other shotgun was my 870 that my dad bought for me when I was 13. Afterwards we had a couple of beers. It was a good day.

Like the guns, but love the part about your friend being your son.

Thank you.Yes, they both are and love them both. My wife and I were talking about how good they are. Never had problems with the law and always respectful. Wouldn't trade them for the world.
