New 5.7 x 28 lightweight bolt action survival rifle.

I think I've found a better survival rifle than a 22LR. For just over 5 pounds of carry weight, you can have this outfitted rifle and 150 rounds of ammo. The rifle itself weighs 2.8 pounds. 5.7x28 far exceeds the performance of 22LR. Centerfire is also far more reliable than rimfire. Cost of 22LR ammo is far cheaper than 5.7x28 though. But you shouldn't be blowing through rounds in a survival situation. If you are, you need to rethink your strategy.

The Dark Mountain Stowaway is far lighter than an M6 and the AR-7. The $408 price tag isn't bad either. I'd prefer a mag fed semi-auto, but for the balance of weight and power, I don't think it can be beat. Different caliber swap barrels are coming soon. Evidently all that's needed is the new caliber barrel, that's all that's needed for the caliber swap.

I like it, thanks for sharing
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I like it too. Wondering why the bolt handle is on the left side...

Interesting rifle. The 22 lr capability allows for shorts and CBs, neat touch.

Because it is faster for a righty to rack a left sided bolt handle.

Never thought of it that way, makes sense though. Right hand doesn't leave the weapon to cycle the action. Did the same thing with my bait caster reel and use a lefty. No transfer from right to left after casting

Racking is only half of it. You also have to retrieve and load a round, most righties are going to prefer doing that with their right hand. If this was mag fed then it might make sense, but not so much if you have to find and feed a round - and does it have an extractor and ejector or is that also manual?

That actually depends on the weight of the gun and how well it is being supported. The advantage of learning to load with the left hand is you can keep the gun on target. For example, bench rest shooters use a left hand bolt and left hand feed because it's faster and you can stay in position better.

                  As I see it:

Inferior caliber. Make it a .223 at least. Much better ammunition availability.

                  No provision for a sling.

Lack of iron sights. A “survival” type of weapon shouldn’t rely only on glass or electronic sighting systems.

Separate components easily lost when not assembled.

Small likelihood of ever seeing actual production in numbers to support parts replacement.

would be a great rifle if it had cock on open or cock on close. the liberator 45 system it has going on doesn't do it for me.

Meh, have to manually pull the striker to cock it after you cycle with the bolt handle (safety reason? Not safe to leave a round in chamber cocked?). Cannot remove the stock for storage. No irons. Maybe for $150.
