Rossi Lever Apertures?

Hi gunners, you guys are my search engine. Any recommendations for a peep on a .357 Rossi 92. No D&T. I know there's one that replaces the safety. Are there Tang mount available? Thanks PAX

Skinner makes some just for the Rossi.

If it's a rifle (not a carbine) then a model 92 tang sight should work. Marbles and Lyman make them.

Thanx g, I've got one 16" carbine and one 20" rifle. I think the rifle would look retro with a Tang, if it's long enough, it has an octagon barrel with a case-hardened receiver. PAX

I have one of those too, It's my favorite Rossi. I don't have a tang sight on it but I do have one on my Winchester short rifle.

I tried one of the Skinners on my 20" Rossi. It was the peep that goes in the dovetail where the rear buckhorn sight goes.

It worked pretty well. I left it on my rifle when I sold it.

On my current Rossi 92 I removed the factory buckhorns and replaced them with the buckhorns from a Marlin 1894. I much prefer them over the Rossi's.

I am looking for peeps for this current Rossi but I don't want to go back to the barrel mounted peep so I am kind of stuck.

On my Citadel 92 I have a scout scope on the factory rail and it is sweet.

I have tried tang sights on several guns but they are awkward for me. But they work very well.

Yeah, I use these on a couple of levers that I didn?t want to drill and tap. I found them pretty effective, cost effective solution. Can give it a go, and if not for you, well, pretty inexpensive to begin with.

Thanks - I ordered one for my older Rossi 92 in .45 Colt. It is not drilled and tapped under the rear sight like my newer Ross .44 ag. I put a scout scope on that one.

The weather is going to be pretty nice up here - 78 tomorrow, 70 on Thursday and mid to high 60s after that for the rest of October.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going with the safety peep on the carbine for the longer sight radius, and a tang on the octagon rifle for the nostalgia factor. PAX

I was surprised that Zoner had to drill and tap his R92 rifle. The 2 I bought came with a extra, different buttstock screw for a tang sight. I just assumed drilling wasn't needed.

The round barrel Rossi M92(like mine) comes with only one hole in the upper tang for the stock bolt.That bolt gets changed for a longer one and it secures the rear of the sight base. The front hole needs to be drilled and tapped 10/32.
It's my understanding that the 24" octagon barreled M92's come set up with both holes needed to install the tang sight

What front sight are you using?

The factory one so far. On my Winchester 94(w/Lyman #2 tang sight) I'm using a XS post type sight.... .100 wide flat topped sight(black) with a .040 vertical white stripe.....the flat top sight makes it much easier to index elevation cuz it's easier to see the very top of the sight than a round one. The white stripe aids in indexing windage. I hope to eventually find one of those for the Rossi too.

Zoner, you said short rifle in your post. Is it a short rifle or a carbine.

I didn't know Rossi made a round barrel short rifle, that's why I ask.
