Is Richmond members only now? And 11-4 only and closed Monday Tuesday Thursday?
Is this because of the parking lot thefts?

Nope. Because too much ”non-member” revenue puts the club’s non-profit status at risk.

Btw, the public line has always been closed on M, T, and Th.

I?ve been a member of RR&G since 1996, Elmer Silva was my sponsor.

I used to shoot Highpower there when Elmer ruled the roost. I always enjoyed talking with him, and on rare occasions he talked about his experiences island hopping in the Pacific fighting the Japanese. He was pretty old then and that was a long while ago, so I'm assuming he passed?

I still have my Big Bore Rifle League patch.

Anyway - I moved to Idaho and lost track of the Highpower crowd. Range 8 at Chabot got shut down, too. That's where I cut my teeth, under the watchful eye of a very helpful Jim O'Connell. Jim taught me how to shoot, gave me ammo and brass, and even a few M1 magazines to get started.

Sorry to hear about Elmer, he was indeed one of a kind. I suppose Jim is getting up there in age as well.

I was active at Richmond and Chabot from the late 90's through the 2000's - shot with Armanini, Eggars, Borgsted, etc. I think Tom Lumen ended up in Idaho? I'm wondering if you were on the line when I was? it was a special time back then, and I learned a lot about shooting and competing from some of the greats. I'll never forget Jim coaching me to my first clean rapid sitting at the CA state match in Coalinga.

My home club was Chabot until 1996 when I joined RR&G, I was a member at both clubs until Chabot closed. I knew and still know all those guys. I started shooting Highpower in 1978 and was active up until my first son was born in 1998, I shot occasionally after that, we probably did shoot in some of the same matches at one time or another.
