AR50 at Eurooptic, $3699 - https://www.eurooptic.com/armalite-ar-50a1.aspx
Least expensive Barrett 50 is $4801 - https://www.eurooptic.com/barrett-model-99.aspx
Suffice to say, the AR50 is a better shooter out of the box BUT much longer and heavier - AR50 is 58.5" and 37.1# (30" barrel. only length available); Barrett 99 is 47" and 23# (29" barrel) or 50" and 25# (32" barrel). 12-14# is quite a bit but that weight and the excellent AR brake makes the AR50 a much kinder rifle to shoot.ELR Researcher, Benefactor Member NRA and Life Member CRPA

I chose the ar50. Thanks for all the input. I still need to sign up to fcsa. I still need a scope. I am also thinking of getting into reloading for it. Like I said before i probably only shot it once a year. Oh and it’s big ,heavy and I am already giggling like a school girl !Comment

Now you have a .50 dtc itch. We have been scratching ours for a while.Comment

If you're only going to shoot it once a year, spending a grand or two on reloading gear might not be a wise decision. You can get match grade ammo from Hornady and Desert Tech and probably other places.Comment

Since you do not appear to be interested in competitions, hardly a reason to get into reloading for .50 BMG. Here is a listing of available .50 BMG ammo - https://www.elr-resources.com/ELR%20...2005022023.xls
BTW, Hornady A-Max is the most logical solution (good quality, availability, and price). Sourcing options here - https://ammoseek.com/ammo/50bmg/Hornady and here - http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/rifle/50bmg/Last edited by ELR Researcher; 05-06-2023, 9:41 AM.ELR Researcher, Benefactor Member NRA and Life Member CRPA

I appreciate all the input. I wouldn’t mind going and shooting competitions once in a while but I just don’t have the time. As I got older time seams to get more valuable and I have less free time. But I have a good paying job so I shouldn’t complainComment
