Freedom Group Remington 700

Hi all, I got a Remington 700 from a co worker. It included the cheap synthetic stock that I've heard nothing but bad things about. While as luck would have it I got an email from MDT about Black Friday sale, and it has me wanting to grab https://mdttac.com/xrs-chassis-system/
I'll likely use the rifle a lot at the local range, and may get into competition at some point. Good addition, or throwing money away to look "tacticool"?

Seems ok, what material is it made from? Very heavy stock but not a problem for just a range rifle.

Aluminum core with Polymer panels.

Squeeze the forearm and barrel. Watch the gap at the front. The original stock on my SPS Varmint could be made to contact the barrel using 2 fingers worth of pressure (which is probably about what it sees sitting on a bipod.) YMMV.

Yup, that's about what I experienced.
I grabbed the MDT and got the opportunity to go shoot it recently. I really like it. I'll post up some pictures of it soon.
