    A new Scout

Not really new, but new-ish and I only recently heard about it.

Christensen Arms, carbon fiber wrapped barrel, Trigger Tech trigger, AICS magazine, threaded muzzle with flashhider, barricade stop, etc, etc. 5.9 pounds.

    MSRP about $2200.

I'm deliberately staying away from the far end of the rifle rack at the local feed store where they keep the CA rifles.

Cheaper than having those custom features put on an ordinary rifle.

            Don't see any provision for a forward-mounted, low-power scope.

            So, "scout-ish".

Yeah, I can't see through a scope like that so it's fine with me. I suspect their market research led them to conclude not many customers would want it.

I want a rifle like that because it's very light and short. The SIG Cross still beats it in a couple areas, with a folding stock and a short throw bolt. But the CA is lighter and has the sub-moa guarantee.

I'm not seeing the value proposition here.

Considering you can buy something like a Savage 110MH for $711 shipped, the rifle you posted is basically a $1500 upcharge to have:

                  - A carbon fiber wrapped 16" barrel instead of 18" fully-stainless (worth maybe $700)
                  - A Trigger Tech trigger (worth maybe $150)
                  - Some throwaway flash hider (worth maybe $75)
                  - Some throwaway barricade stop (worth maybe $75)

The other features on your rifle (the fancy stock, the oversize bolt knob, the scope rail, the threaded muzzle, the AICS mags, the fact that it's shorter than most bolt actions, etc) are already present on that particular Savage 110.

I guess if you literally just have unlimited stacks of money to throw around and you really like lightweight rifles, then go for it, but for the rest of us, the $711 Savage plus a trigger and some flashy accessories (muzzle device, barricade stop) will get you 99% of the way there for less than half the price...

If you want light and short check out the Kimber line. They male a 4lb 13oz rifle called the Adirondack with a sub moa guarantee.

Jeff Cooper would go bonkers calling that a SCOUT

For me to keep the budget more reasonable (under $700)and shoot 1 inch groups
                      I just went with this

Other than missing the goofy scope mount it has all the attributes of his scout idea.

Bob has the right idea. Essentially the same kind of gun for 1/4 the price.

The Ruger in .223 uses Pmags and with a simple Red Dot Sight it is a excellent 300 yard gun. It is also light and easy to carry around so us older types will be able to contribute to the insurrection effort without breaking a sweat.

I'd do a green one too.

As much as I like what the Christensen has to offer, I absolutely cannot choke down that price tag.

I agree, it may not technically be a Cooper Scout, but in common practice, it meets the criteria for “Scout” status. I think the better nomenclature is “practical rifle”. Modify that Ruger Ranch to take AK mags, and I’m down!

Dam you guys....now I want to jump off the AR builds and look into bolt guns!
The Mossberg MVP is a good line up as well. Purchased a .308 one but never shot it.
And now I regret selling it....
