Best .357 lever gun for the money?

For the money, I think the best is Rossi. However, you may have to do a little tuning to make it run well. But it's very light, quick, and handy. They have a stupid safety which can be removed.
Henry's are probably the next best value. They're rock solid and perform well out of the box. But you'll pay a weight penalty. This is the easy pick. You also get both a tube mag and a side gate on some models.
Winchesters and Ruglins are next as far as value since they're so expensive. However, they probably are the best made."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old liberal and I'll show you a man without a brain." - Sir Winston Churchill

I hate be be this way, but the answer is never Rossi. Anything but.

ACfixer, mighty fine looking Henry you have there. Sure do like my two Henry's.
The .45 Colt being my favorite.

I know, that's why I said I hate to say it... my experiences have not been nearly as good!
Thank you sir! That one is a .44, some say the scope on a lever is sacrilege but I disagree, especially on something as modern as that and it's my go-to deer gun in the dense woods here, perfect. Really fun to shoot.Last edited by ACfixer; 10-10-2022, 3:52 PM.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

AC, that scope looks like mine on the .45 Colt. Leupold 2-7x33 shotgun scope.
Works perfect for my F'ing eyesight!

To un-hijack the thread a little, for the money I think the Henry OP.
It's actually a fixed power 4 x 33, I just looked on the website I don't think they make it anymore. I'm guessing the same tube and such as yours but fixed? Anyway, yeah... I put this together to be a 100 yard gun and the glass really fits the bill nicely.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

Is this correct, the Rossi 20” stainless holds 16+1 rounds .38/357? Read it on the Turners website description for the rifle. If true...then ROSSI for the win.Comment

I like lever guns, own three and would really like a Browning. But I will say I hate…absolutely hate loading through a loading gate, it just sucks. Probably why the only one I really enjoy shooting is my 22.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

Oh my. That rifle looks just right.Comment

Can’t be correct. The length of the mag tube is 20. With no spring and follower you could stick 12 rounds of 357 in 20”. 16 requires 25+ inches. Again without the spring/follower. In general for 38/357 20” is around 10. 24” is around 13 or soLast edited by bonesurf; 10-11-2022, 7:22 AM.Comment
