We were at scheels and they have this riffle with a nightmare mounted on top for a little over 4k.

I was checking it out and the wife said buy it. I said.naw I need to read some reviews as I'm not familiar with Christensen arms riffles. Now I'm scared because she works near the store she'll but it for me. So I need some fee red back ASAP. Anyone own one and if so, what's your thoughts? Thanks

All the reviews you want. They are hit and miss. I really wanted one but finally chose to go Tikka with a GPR stock. Very happy with that.

Still like the rifle and the carbon fiber barrel but their actions are not that smooth for what the cost.

Well I'm a Tikka guy for the same reasons. My 308 is the best shooting rifle I've owned and that action is so smoooooth!
Yeah I have to talk to her and make sure she doesn't buy it. Something tells me I won't be happy.

I like that MPR, but be aware that if you want a precision rifle, it may not be what you want. They are really light for a chassis rifle. If you're expecting a typical "precision" rifle like an 11 pound RPR, you might be disappointed.

and I love it. It does exactly what is expected. Lightweight and very accurate. Mine is in 300 WinMag, and recoil is very manageable with the brake they provide. It is at just over 8lbs with scope and rings.

Thanks guys I think I'm going to look at Tikkas again. This long range stuff has been getting fun. My father-in-law lows a 300 win mag so I might look into that round. I was thinking about a 338 but I think the 300 ammo is cheaper.

.338 Winmag is brutal in a hunting weight rifle. It's probably a lot better with a muzzle brake but then you have all the problems that a muzzle brake brings.

I think Christensen is generally pretty good, but as with all production rifles, there will be some that aren't very good. Christensen makes excellent barrels so the chances are that it will shoot well. I guess it depends what you're using it for. I think there are better choices for a hunting rifle and scope.

I own a Mesa in 300 Win Mag, it's a shooter! Half MOA if I do my job. As for the bad reviews, they are usually followed up by Christensen doing the right thing and fixing them up right. My buddy owns a Ridgeline in 300 Win Mag as well and it's a good shooter also.

My thing is if you find a rifle from a decent builder that shoulders well, get it. If the Tikka fits better, get it, if the Bergara, get it, if it's the Christensen, get it. No wrong answer here.

I have a MPR in 300 PRC with the stainless steel barrel instead of the carbon wrapped.

The brake works really well, I think my 5R with 175 gr hand loads kicks harder.

A friend has one (not sure on model) in 28 Nosler; with factory loads it shoots softer than my Rem 700 in 308 (though I'm sure the people shooting nearby are less impressed.) I was really impressed with the efficiency of the brake.

I've re-barreled more than a few of them because they don't shoot well. Like others said its hit and miss whether you get one that shoots well. Roll the dice. If you or the wife are willing to spend 4K, I'd look into a custom build.

Were these older rifles? Because they come with a sub-moa guarantee now. If I bought one that didn't shoot, I'd send it back.
