I almost started a similar thread to see what the hive mind was thinking about this rifle/caliber combo…

AFAIK Savage is the only one with factory options in their Axis II or 110 Tactical

Word on the street is Howa has their carbon stalker mini actions coming out this year. Something like 4lbs 10 oz without an optic.

Not really worth it in a bolt action. It's made for a gasser where it really shines for what it is.

There are other rounds that just outperform it in a bolt .

But live the ARC and Grendel

Sportsmans Warehouse had a Savage 110 in 6mm ARC for their holiday sale - pretty sure that should expand some in choices soon.

Not sure what barrels you are referring to. Most modern are 1/7-1/8 twist in bolt action .223.

If you want low recoil and bolt go 6BR, 6 Fat Rat, to get the utmost performance with no recoil. Otherwise the Grendel that's based off the Russian PPU was designed for a gas gun.

If you truly want bolt 6BR, 6GT, 6 Fat Rat are the way to go. If do 6GT

This guy has done a ton of development on 6 ARC. He chambers them a little differently than the standard. As someone mentioned above, it's a completely different animal when loaded to higher bolt action pressures, instead of gas gun limits.

He's shot PRS with it, long range banging, etc. I think he's building customer guns now, but I'm not sure. I believe he's in AZ.

Just a few examples, he has a lot more 6 ARC on his channel.

In that case I'd go 6ARC all day long. I have so much invested in my Grendels I'd have to sell 4 guns and all the goods. Not worth it for me.

If you need a Smith PM I will give you a good lead on one.

In that case, I wouldn't have a gun built. I'd buy something off the shelf, like a Howa or Savage. .223 is even cheaper, and good for 700-800 yards with good ammo. 6 ARC will fight the wind much better though.

Your first three requirements would be met, especially if you shoot gas gun ammo, which might be all you can get factory loaded, for all I know.

Never shot a 6 ARC but if i had a gunsmith put a custom barrel on one of my guns and it shot 1 inch groups at 100 yards i would never use that gunsmith and barrel manufacturer again.
The 6BR is a all around great chambering but i dont think you will find one in a Remington 700 off the shelf rifle.
If you have a short action remington 700 and you want a gunsmith to install a barrel go with a 8 twist and a gunsmith like mike bryant who will fix the extraction issue you see in the video above.
Factory 6BR ammo isnt cheap but it will shoot sub half inch and if you dont reload you can sell the once fired brass for 75 cents each to help with the ammo cost $2.50 a shot.(Graf&Son)
If you do reload Varget RE15 or H4895 will get you 1800 rounds out of one 8 pound jug of powder. 100 pieces of brass will last 2500 shots and recoil is almost non-existent.

Probably easier to just do a 6PPC.
Lots of benchrest actions support it.
