Budget but decent rest for long range silhouette shooting.

    Gents,

Need some help with some ideas for a sub $250 rest. The Caldwells look good BUT a lot of complaints about quality. I have a Lyman, with a split bag on it, need something more stable. A2

Depends. Are you setting up from a set point like a firing line? Or will this be field shooting where you will move around? B.

Shooting mat, bipod, squeeze bag, well under $250.

From a bench, bipod, squeeze bag, we'll under $150

Standing, spend the money on a RRS tripod SOAR, with Anvil Mount, outside your budget.

From the bench, at the range. Looking at the Protektor line. This is for target AR10, and heavy barrel Savage both in .308.

sandbag and squeezebag combo at turners for $30.

My friend and I just got his new rifled zeroed and hitting a 13 inch plate at 900yds in 22 rounds. We are brand new to long range. You dont need to spend $250.

You do realize that shooting Long Range Silhouette is done from the standing position. Offhand? No Rest.

You can't even use Trigger Sticks.

                  Hey Randy,

I appreciate the pointers. This is unofficial just hitting silhouettes, the rest set up I have now moves too much. And is Mickey Mouse, some of it is my technique. A2

                      Lynn,

Thanks a million, I bought the Grizzly 50 for $129, and the 2 1/4 inch bag. This will be for my .308 AR10 rifles and my Savage heavy barrel! A true bargain! Thanks A2

That looks sturdy. Good for developing loads. A rear bag (squeeze) should round it out.

A simple front and rear bag by Caldwell or whomever will work well from a bench. Or a bipod and sand sock (rear bag) works well shooting prone.

$30 Caldwell bags on a concrete bench works pretty good.
