WInchester 94, elevator blocks loading gate.

Alright, bought a 1922 made Win 94 receiver, and the elevator does not clear the loading gate, making it unable to open. If I push the elevator down without the mag tube installed, it clears it and I can open it. Clearly that is not optimal. When I open the action, the elevator lifts up, but I can push it down to any level I want and it will stay there. I am sure there is a part missing, but I cannot find out which part. Tomorrow I am taking it down, but apart from some blown up schematics I can't find a good list of parts. It's a 1922, 20" barrel carbine.

There are no problems cycling, this issue is present mag tube or not, the elevator functions normally, aside from not giving the loading gate clearance. I don't think it's a rough parts issue, the elevator stops in the middle of the loading gate's space.

Any ideas? I've been rebuilding this thing, but the only parts I know were missing are as follows.
Barrel - had to buy one and retime it.
Both bands and screws.
Stock Set.
Hammer, mainspring, and associated screws.
Front sight blade insert and rear sight.

And now this mystery part.

The part you are referring to is called a carrier, not elevator. The problem described is indicative of a worn, broken, or missing carrier spring. If it has been taken apart by others in the past the carrier itself could also be bent from improper assembly.
I would check these first.

Have it all taken apart with my gunsmithing instructor, nothing is missing, and the spring doesn't look very worn. It may have been set incorrectly on the carrier (thank for the correction). I've been polishing it, and it's going into the bluing tanks after my lunch break.

It looks like it's the carrier spring issue, one side of it, end which interacts with the carrier in and of itself it worn basically flat. I'm going to build it up with some spring filler weld and then re heat treat it.

The reblue went interestingly... the receiver, and it's assorted components along with the mag tube are all black, as it should have turned out in the specific salts we have on hand, and the barrel turned an interesting light plum. The difference in color coming in from the hardness and metal content. I think it looks neat, but obviously if this was a customer gun or a graded project, it would need to be cold shocked and blued longer/hotter.

When you say "worn flat", you mean the hook is gone? If the spring is shot just buy a new one. Jack First has them right now.
Probably a Nickel Steel barrel. They dont blue well.
