Congrats on the shooter! I just had to send my Lightweight Storm in 7mm-08 back to savage because the barrel was canted. Hopefully it comes back and handles as well as yours.

Sweet little set up at a great a price.
I recently got the kimber Hunter in 6.5CM for my son and it’s a shooter! It had to go back to kimber before i shot it as the chamber was little too tight and it was scratching brass. They tried to tell me that they had to a custom polish job on the chamber. Gtfoh. Probably forgot to polish the chamber in the first place. Either way , love having light rifles that shoot so well. Mine Doesn’t have to the cool camo stock like yours.Last edited by FishnHunt; 10-31-2021, 2:41 PM.All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.Comment

Looks like they're 5.65 pounds bare. That's pretty friggin light.Comment

In my opinion you chose wisely. My experience with the Kimber 84 was much less than satisfactory. I tried all kinds of bullets and powder combinations and could never get it to group well. I traded mine away for a Winchester model 70 and couldn't be happier.
If you are Savage is shooting under a minute out of the box, you did very well indeed.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Kimbers are out of my price range but a good friend of mine got one as a Christmas gift from his wife. It patterned out of the box. I understand that can happen every now and then but Kimber's customer service was apparently lacking. Severely lacking. It's a long story but it soured me on Kimbers. I'm not going to pay $1500 or more for a rifle that shoots worse than a cheap TC Compass.
I sent an out-of-warranty Savage Mkii .22lr back to Savage when it wasn't firing reliably with HV ammo. I had to pay for shipping to the factory but Savage paid for the return, no questions asked.Comment

I got mine off of a consignment rack, so only $750..... but your point is valid. The Mossberg Patriot I screwed around with only cost $250 and shoots just over 1/2 MOA, albeit with a lot of tweaking and bedding. The thing with the Kimber though - with the scope mounted and ready to hunt it was 6.47lbs. If you do a ton of backpack hunting, that would be a big deal. I don't, so it wasn't so much for me.
I never tried Kimber customer service, but I have heard horror stories. I have tried Mossberg, and they always took care of me.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!
