Question about Marlin 1893 saddle ring carbine parts compatibility, info

I was gifted an 1893 chambered in 30-30 and have been trying to pick up some parts for it as it's missing the butt plate, original magazine tube, and screws associated with the barrel bands. There's some parts available for the stands rd version and I've found schematics of it but I have the saddle ring version of it which has thrown a wrench in finding parts. The stock doesn't seem like it would accept any of the two butt plate styles I've found online. The barrel bands front and rear also look entirely different from the schematic shown on Numrich. The rifle came with a magazine tube for an 1893 but it doesn't seem to have the notches cut out in it to match up with the notches in the barrel. The rear sight also doesn't seem similar to other 1893s I've been seeing online. Also, any clue on date of manufacturer from the serial? Model number and tang marking of the full "1893" indicates it could be WW1 era but before 1920.

I know there are many similarities to the Marlin 336, but not sure if I can source parts from those as well.

No help here, that sure looks like a fun project. I always have liked the saddle ring Winchesters.

No help here either, but with the condition being what it is, I'd be tempted to have it polished and blued, assuming the bore is nice and the wood can be refinished satisfactorily.

Would be a nice project for restoration.

It was stored in a leather saddle bag for quite awhile so there was a heavy amount of surface rust. Thankfully very very little pitting though. I pulled and wiped off the rust with the gun oil/old copper penny trick and it looks world's better than it did before, but after she's up and running I'll likely be looking into whether I should go further. Coming from the world of C&Rs I'm usually more likely to keep an original beat up patina unless it's already been heavily modified. A proper refinish would be gorgeous though.

Yeah - if it can be made at all presentable, original is always better. The pictures made it look to be more on the relic side of things.

Perfect, thank you. Whole bunch of posts about the 1893 right in the lever action first page.

That might be a good candidate for a Turnbull restoration. It would look better than it did when brand new.

If it were my gun, that’s what I’d be wanting to do. But I’d also have resigned myself into throwing around $3-5k into the gun.

Worth it, IMO. That 1893 will be about the sexiest gun on the planet after they’re done with it. Winchesters can eat their hearts out.

                      You wish.

Seriously though.... before I'd do anything with it, disassemble and clean the rust, corrosion, grit, and miscellaneous dirt out of it and make sure it is mechanically sound. And make sure both firing pin springs are good...... usually the rear leaf spring is broken on guns that have been neglected or mistreated.
