    Trigger Pull Force

All of my rifles measure 2-2.5 pounds with a mechanical trigger scale except for the CZ 457 (rimfire), which measures 14 oz. I use some of the rifles for practice and others get to go hunting.

I'm curious to know how others have their centerfire rifles set up and the intended use (target, plinking, competition, hunting).

All of my rifles for targets plinking and hunting run 2-6 ounces.
Most people freakout when I mention the low weights but it's what I am used to.
When I hunt I keep the magazine full and nothing in the chamber until I am going to shoot.

My bolt action rifles range from 2 - 3.5lbs, lever actions are closer to 4lbs

My Savage .223 Accutrigger is set to 2.8 lbs. I mostly shoot paper.

As long as I feel minimum take up and the trigger breaks clean I can manage to be consistent. I don't care about measuring weight any more. I go by how it feels.

*The lowest I've gone is 4.5# on my 556 coyote rifle.

            2oz on the competition guns
1.5lb 1st and .5lb 2nd stage on the ar coyote gun

once you shoot light pull triggers its hard to go back. feels like dragging a truck out of the mud to shoot a 4lb trigger lol

I don't hunt, so all rifles are long distance hole punchers..

Approx trigger pull weight with Lyman gauge

Centerfire bolt action: 2 1/2 lb
Centerfire semiauto (AR): 4 1/2 lb
Rimfire semiauto: initially as low as 1lb with a Kidd aftermarket trigger, but now set at 2 1/2 lb.

I like a pound to a pound and a half.
Feel is more important than weight to me though.
I rather have a heavier trigger that is crisp than a mushy trigger that's really light.
On two stage triggers, 8oz to 1lb takeup and 8oz break is good.

Up to a certain point, I think that feel is much more important than actual weight.

Guns carried loaded with the safety on:

Big bore hunting rifles 3- 3.5 Lbs.
                        Medium game rifles 2-3 Lbs.

                        Usually unloaded until shot:
Varminting/ target guns around 1 Lbs. (12-18 oz.)

Target rifles 4 to 8 OZ
Varmint rifles 8 oz to 2 lb
Big Game rifles 2 to 3 lbs

I normally do not carry with a round chambered except for bird and sometimes rabbit hunting. I do carry loaded chamber and safety on occasionally in tight cover and if still hunting in the woods or brush.

As others have said, I am more concerned about crispness, etc than pull weight.

1lb is about the lowest I have for BA rifles. My CZ 455 in 22 mag is about 8-10 oz and it works, but it wasn't my intent to go so light.
