URSA 2000 Yard June 20Th Match Results

We had 7 shooters for our last match until October after deer season ends and it was the CalGuns regular RickyRacer87 show!!

In match one we had 2 shooters qualify for the match and RickyRacer87 dominated the match with 8 hits out of 10 shots fired to take the win!
Congrats RickyRacer87 8 out of 10 doesn't come that often and you where on fire my friend!!!!

We had time and because of the break for deer season everyone wanted to shoot a second match.
Moodolistic and Jim R both qualified but ran out of ammo at shot 6 with 2 and 3 hits.
It came down to a sudden death shootoff between WhiteMamba and RickyRacer87 and RickyRacer87 put down 3 straight hits to take the match win.
We now take 3 months off to go deer hunting and to try and figure out how to beat RickyRacer87.
Rumor has it that his barrel has over 1200+ rounds on it and it's still shooting lights out.
I want to thank all of our shooters for a great 2021 so far and a safe return in October.

Nice, that gives context to those 8 of 10 hits. Impressive

Sounds like a ton of fun.

Requesting RickyRacer87 to provide info on his rifle, barrel (make, caliber, twist rate, special seasoning and sauce used) gunsmith, bullet weight.

It's a Billy Goat Machine built rifle with a 338 Lapua Magnum in an Ackley Improved chamber it's Using a Defiance action and a 31.5" 9.3 righthand twist Bartlein Barrel. it's sporting a NightForce ATACR 7-35 x56 SFP scope and it's all sitting in a Manners T5+ Stock and using a Phoenix Bipod with a lowrider plate. I'm pushing 300 gr Hornady A-Tips in Lapua brass with H1000 powder at 3020 FPS.

Is that still supersonic up to 2600 yards?

                  Congrats on superb shooting.

A nice rifle for sure, but pretty much a URSA workhorse that's been used by many. I think the ATips are a step forward from multiple sorts on the Hybrids, but mostly they free up reloading time you can better use elsewhere.

My unsolicited opinion is you're simply shooting it better and probably loading better ammo.

What sort of velocity spreads do you get for URSA strings?

Yes they should still be super sonic out to 2600

Well I'm still working on my consistency for my ES. On the 8 of 10 string I I was at 10 FPS until the last shot and then it went to 21...

Very little of your reloading setup will affect your extreme spreads.
An accurate powder charge and the correct primer will get you to 20 fps without much work.
After that it's a series of little steps that get you into single digits.
We have been holding matches for 7 years now and as the rifles accuracy goes up in my experience so does the number of hits.

My problem is all I have is IMR4350 and half a box of 100 Federal match LRM primers and about 1000, of what I can grab pandemic time, CCI LRM. Loading for 300 WSM, hopefully components will trickle in. Hoping to get some of the heavier Sierra TMKs.
