Scope for marlin 336 FFP 1X? 3X?

Would prefer FFP, and external adjustments as i will he shooting this from 50 to 400 yards for fun. I know it's not a target rifle. Hunting sometimes 200 yards and under.

Red dot. .30-30 isn't a reasonable rifle cartridge beyond about 250 yards. It gets ate up by a low BC pretty quick.

I'll suggest a 1-4x LVPO. Should cover all your needs.

Seriously. It does everything a LVPO can do, it keeps the rifle much lighter, handier, and is even less accepted socially than a scope.

No ffp, but I've enjoyed the Leupold 1.5-4, 2.5 fixed, and 2-7. Last one I had mounted was actually a 3-9 just cause I had it handy when I wanted to go shooting and the others were in use on other rifles. When I get it back together I'll probably go 2-7, just because it's enough for punching paper and seeing holes but dialed back has a fairly decent fov if I want to use it for hunting.

For ffp I've been curious about the primary arms 1-6, but not sure the eye relief would be comfortable with the mounting solution I am currently using.

A 2-7x or 3-9x would work well. At 50yds 3x won’t slow you down and at 200yds you will appreciate the additional magnification.
400yds with a Marlin 30-30 would be a challenge..

Make sure your 3x scope has enough elevation adjustment to get a 30-30 rainbow out to 400 yards.

SO you probably figured out that your 30/30 is not a long range rifle by todays long range standards based on replies. However it is a good gun for your proposed occasional hunting 200 yards and in. Let me propose that you either use open sights, red dot, or get a a scope but no more than 4x with an uncluttered reticle(duplex), and no objective larger than 32mm to retain practical use. Then stay off the bench and learn to shoot field positions at 50.100, 200 and have a good time. Work on hitting a paper plate sized target with quick accusation and you will not only have fun but should become an okay practical marksman, not just a bench wookie.

Would a Fastfire 3 survive on a .30-30? I am serious about the red dot answer but don't have firsthand experience with the mini Red dots on centerfire rifles.

Ive had many red dots on my 460 Smith & Wesson Magnums shooting a 300 grainer at well over 2000 fps. All have survived though admittedly I have never owned a burris. But plenty of people have them on levers and I wouldnt have any second thoughts.
