Dont get the PTG bolt head. They used to be awesome and drop in but now they are very rough and require lots of fitting. IME you wont really gain anything unless you plan on firing thousands of high pressure round through your action.

You absolutely need to check the headspace when you switch bolt heads.
If it's off, then the barrel nut needs to be loosened and the headspace re-set.

Yeah I would use the factory bolt head and check it for flatness every 500 rounds. They are on the soft side and can develop a crater shaper on the face with heavy loads. If you are looking to improve accuracy the best money will be a stiff stock and a good barrel. Criterion prefits from Northland Shooter Supply are my favorite; they also sell precision ground recoil lugs and barrel nuts. Check headspace when changing anything.

Purchased a Timney replacement trigger, a Wolf 32lb and 36lb spring. Should cut my lock time down. Hogue stock inbound, bottom metal inbound. Should really be fun. The Hogue is fully bedded, the Bell and Carlson is ok, but heavy and clunky. It’s for sale too! A2
