Not my cup of tea but it’s your gun and all that matters is that it suits your needs.
I did observe that it was nicely done and I absolutely respect that.
Now go shoot it and report back with results.Comment

Threaded rifles should be fine for ca, right? Or am I missing something? But the dark models are really expensive, and you've replicated it very well. Personally the light/laser is a bit much for me, but then again you aren't building it for me so that's not a problem.
If you're in the bay area I have a 2-7 burris scout scope sitting in a cabinet that I'd be willing to let go for a song. Slightly over your weight goals, but every scout rifle I've seen is a compromise somewhere (or severalwheres).Comment

That’s the kind of **** that happens when you have 15 posts in 12 years. If you like it that’s cool, but you WILL catch some flak over that setup you got there.Comment

I’m absolutely on board with “modernizing lever guns” and I absolutely find that the Scout Rifle concept, as well as the Practical Rifle concept are valid. A QD 2.5x scout scope wouldn’t hurt.
But you lost me at the red dot and the laser...
The .30-30 is a damned fine antipersonnel round!Originally posted by ysr_racerPlease don't bring logic and reason into an interwebs discussion

I kind of like it. And that is coming from a guy whose most tactical lever gun is a Savage 99F, which come to think of it, isn't very tactical at all.MLC member.

The first picture made me spit coffee
You have a flashlight on the rail. It appears to sit between the front and rear sight.
So you have a light but to sights..... am I seeing that correct?

And why can’t you have a threaded barrel on a lever action rifle?

I like it.
I was lucky enough to snag one of the Marlin Darks in 357 magnum before the craziness started.
If Jobama gets his way that will be the closest to a "scary black rifle" that any of us will get.
Rock on and ignore the haters.

lmao. I like your post, jarhead.
I am a reader of all things Cooper and have been familiar with his Scout rifle concept and it's [ethos?] for a number of years. Every rifle I own save for two have abbreviated barrel lengths. They are short, light and handy. And friendly.
The 336 in the OP would be superb with only the ghost ring. The .30WCF/.30-30's effective range does not necessarily need glass...
Toss the gimmicks and get back to basics if you're going to be using the term "scout rifle".
