Savage 12 f/tr .223 ?

Hi All,
Currently shooting a Savage Axis heavy barrel .223, target shooting only 100-200 yards so far. Looking to upgrade for better accuracy and to stretch its legs out to 500 to possibly 800 yards. Was looking at the Savage 12 F/TR. It would probably be way overkill for what I want to do. But with the Biden bucks I'm in a position to spend more than I normally would. Seems like a nice rifle.
Any input from the group?

An FTR would be a good choice since you could run long skinny bullets and not have to worry about mag feeding. They are wicked accurate rifles just male sure you get something with a faster twist rate. 1:8 range will do well with the heavier bullets you need to shoot further.

I would spring for a better barrel with the bucks, nothing wrong with the action you have now. You can buy a single shot adapter show that allows dropping one round in at a time.

That Savage is 1 in 7. The Axis has a slower twist, not the best for long range.

I thought F class was 600 and 1000 yards. Surprised they use .223 for that.

If he finds an older one they had a slower twist. Double check when shopping for one.
