If you need brass, you can neck up 6.5x284 brass from Hornady, Winchester, Norma, Lapua, etc. it's a lot more available and the Norma and Lapua is match quality.

The 284 is a bit of an odd bird. It was ahead of it's time.
But at the same time it made a base for wildcats; the 6.5-284 turned in to a great 1000 yard cartridge.

A 99 barreled in 6.5-284 would be sweet, but would be limited to short bullets by the magazine. The beauty of the 6.5-284 is the ballistics with the longer bullets at long range.

Dangitt. The stuff I was going to send is 264 WinMag, not 284 Winchester.

That's why I remembered it being a belted case, so that makes sense, but I was wrong on the 6 v. 8. :/
