MDT or accurate might work. Why won't the Magpuls work?

AICS magazines are sold from a wide variety of vendors. Pretty much any custom rifle builder that uses the M5 bottom metal should have them for sale. As far as them being expensive, I'm sure you must have known that when you bought a PREMIUM rifle that uses premium parts, right? I know that when I bought my GAP Crusader, I wasn't the least bit surprised that spare mags weren't selling for $20 a pop. It's just a case of "buy once, cry once" - but in the end, you'll be damn glad that you did.

You could always sell the rifle to someone that's looking for the best and settle for a different rifle that uses magazines that you can afford (if that's the issue). It's not like the Badger M5 parts are a "make or break option" for top accuracy and there's no shame in going for lesser parts that still work..

Both MDT and Magpul work just fine.

Ha, I thought the thread was going to be about AI rifles.

I was gonna say Barrett MRAD!

          But I guess I won't.

Just know you may have to adjust feed lips on magazines if you have trouble feeding. Magpul mags, can't adjust much due to being polymer (although you can sand down the feed lips)

What is the specific reason you were given as to why Magpul mags won't work?
Do you require a cartridge length over 2.800"?
              That could be the reason.
Steel body mags regularly will take cartridges to 2.9" if your action will handle that length.

I was told magpul didn’t work with out sanding down the feed lips. I don’t mind the 70 if I have to. Just seems a lot for a mag so I’m looking around.

Legit AI mags are the gold standard.
None of the clones are made as well.
I would not buy a steel clone mag because I have real AI mags and have compared the clones against them and the $10-$20 difference in price is completely justified for the quality differences I see in them.

I won't use the Plastic mags 308 because they don't allow for longer lengths.

If your bottom metal accepts AICS is should work with any AICS magazine no matter who made it. I suggest you try a poly AICS magazine by MDT or Magpul. Either one should work.

for the price, you could buy one and see for your self. nothing on SOLs page for the bottom metal says Magpul would not work.

I will say that MDT has some great CS for their mags though. Ordered 5 of their metal aics long mags for 30.06 and when they came the feedlips weren't bent enough to catch the rounds. Notified them and they sent a second batch within a week. Second batch were better but still slightly off, so they sent a 3rd batch, which was bent perfect and told me to keep they first and second batches(they sent a feedlip adjuster with the 3rd batch). So 15 mags for the price of 5.

Magpul will work. I have a few. It depends on the rifle. It all depends on how deep the DBM is installed. That's why they work on some guns and not on others.

Just install the mag and run the bolt forward to see if it catches the feed lips.
I try them with a sharp utility knife. Just have to trim the lip at a 45 degree angle. It doesn't need much trimming.

If your going to to reload longer than mag length. Go metal. AI and accurate mag both make a mag 2.95.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
