    SOLD

Found one for $385 on gunbroker. Should I pull the trigger on this just because I'm a sucker for mauser actions?

    Are they any good?

Things I should look out for?

Had and have plenty of mausers but never a Santa Fe.

Is it a converted military action or a commercial action? Is it an FN action or a Spanish Santa Barbara action?

If it is an FN action and in nice shape I'd say the price is good but really these days you can pick up a used 700 or 77 for around $500.

since I come here to waste time I googled this thing. it's a converted German model 98.

the really strange thing is the one forum thread I read, from 2010 I think, actually called out that Santa Fe converted Mausers will use DWM receivers. as if exclusively.

and this one is a DWM.

OP, you saw the stock is cracked, right?

I'm sure you mean 30-06 rather than .30-96 in the title.

hold out for a JC Higgins 50 or 51 for the same price, they pop up, I think I paid $375 for this one like this, then sold the stock and scope for $200.

I believe that many of those Santa Fe Mausers use converted 1903 Springfield barrels. Not that that is a bad thing.

You might ask the guys at the club who shoot the hi-power events, as they run service rifle activities, and may have info about it.
