    Hot Marlin Levers

So I recently became interested in getting a few of my favorite lever actions.
Some Savage 99s, and replacing a Marlin 39a that I stupidly sold along with 3 Swedish Mausers 25 years ago.
I just checked that box and got a 1953 model, just mounted the Skinner and dovetail filler and sling.

    and a beautiful 1982 336.
    I want a 357 lever next.
It seems that 1894s in 357 are crazy prices. I passed on a CB for $800 and I’m kicking myself now. Do you all think the pre-Rugers will continue to rise in value?

I thought they’d drop with Cowboy Action cooling a bit..
    Thoughts??

The Pre Rugers will increase in value until the New Rugers are released and they will be so much better than the earlier crap that the prices on all the old stuff will plunge.

We are at a Crossroads of Marlin Rifles, Remington just about had the designs totally sussed out and was finally making good guns, and then capooey they are toast.

The Best possible outcome for Marlin was for Ruger to buy them, which they wanted to do last time but got there too late.

Now they got them and they will be made to current Technological Standards on the machines that Remington spent big money to set up with correct twist barrels and clean actions that are smoothed out with properly deburred parts.

I do want a 1894 CB 20" .44 Spec/Mag. when they come out and with a 1:20 twist barrel it will shoot 340 gr boolits great and will be good enough for anything on this continent!

I’m under the impression that there will be hot demand for .357 repeaters, especially since consumer demand is likely to be influenced by people’s need for “AWB proof” self defense type long guns.

If you haven’t ever had a .357 carbine, you are missing out - and don’t equate a .357 rifle with a 9x19 rifle, because the .357 is an entirely different animal.

      I’d still love to see a Ruger 96/357 or 96/10mm (w/ G29 mags)

There's a funny feeling in my pants that I can't explain.

I love my M96 22lr, and I'm pretty sure I have the only three spare firing pins that exist in the world.

the 94's weren't really used too much in cowboy action that I know of, the 1873 clones seem to be the rifle of choice and are available

This is a good question. I lucked out and got a really nice new 1894c a couple years ago. I wouldn't trade it for any other 94, JM marked or not.

IMO, it's hard to say how good the pre ruger guns will do because of the crazy times. There will be no customer support for any of these guns.

A new Winchester 92 should be considered...

They certainly were because those cool '73 clones haven't been as available as they are today.

It's thanks in particular to one Arizona-based SASS shooter "Widowmaker" than many of us have restored reliable function to our +/- 1980s-vintage 1894CS357s.

Wish I knew of what to do with the one I had. Oh well, perhaps Ruger will get it back on track.

Can't wait for anything in a .357 lever to come along

Got a need for one and the supply is very low.

I will be curious to see what Ruger does with existing models.

                    Essplain please!

I've got an 1894c from that vintage that doesn't like to feed real well. I haven't put any time in to figuring it out, but I feel like it should move towards the top of the project heap, as I have a crapload of ammo loaded for it.

I tend to think that the original Marlins will retain some of the high prices we're seeing. Probably with an adjustment once Operation Enduring Cluster$&%# 2020 is over.

Not convinced that once Ruger puts them out that they will be golden either. Ruger can be kind of hit or miss at times, and there will be a learning curve to something they haven't done before.

Yeah, I have a one to that is a jammer. How to get to feed anything would be great.

strangely enough, not being a cowboy action shooter, I have heard of this and heard of him - the guy who figured out how to make the marlins reliable enough to compete with.... I don't remember what it is that he did with them I just remember that he did it.

Was just at our local” LGS today putting absolutely wonderful in jail. They had a very nice looking new 1894C there on the rack. 11 $100 bills and change and it’s in .45 Colt. I’m thinking I might go back and have a closer look.
