    URSA 2000 Yard December Match

    Shooters
We are holding our monthly 2000 yard match december 20th above UpperLake California.
This is a qualifying match for the 2021 3K match so anyone getting 5/10 is in.
So far we only have 2 shooters who have qualified.
Any legal safe firearm is welcome and we don't have any restrictions on weight or shooting position.
There are no fees and no pit duty just show up sign a liability release and shoot.
I recommend 60+ rounds of ammunition as we try and hold two matches at each event if time allows.
If it's raining we don't shoot!!! Snow wind and cold we still shoot.
Arrive at sunrise and after a brief set-up we will go hot.
It should be very cold this time of year so dress in layers.
We shoot in the direction of the morning sun so a pop up cover or sunshade for your scope is desirable.

    Directions to the match.
Take hwy 101 north to the hwy 20 junction just north of Calpella.

It is a long sweeping right-hand only turn.
From there you drive a half hour to UpperLake California and you will know your there because they have a roundabout in the middle of hwy 20.
Once past the roundabout you travel around 500 yards to Mendenhall road which is a left turn.
Mendenhall road turns into/butts up against elk mountain road when you reach it turn left.
Your on elk mountain road for a mile and a half and you make a right onto Pitney lane which is a right turn only.
The only road off of pitney is Sam Alley Ridge which takes you 8 miles up the mountain.
When you reach the top of the mountain take a left onto French glade deer valley road about 3 miles until you see all the vehicles parked. The road sign is either missing or burned up but your GPS or Google maps will tell you your there.

Go to this link click on the yellow highlighted area and sign up. This is a qualifying match for the annual 3K match.

If it's raining we don't shoot so follow this post for weather updates.

On the directions to the firing line. If we give coordinates or you use google maps it will show you 11 roads going up the mountain. These are closed roads or fire trails that haven't been used in many years. Stay on the main road all the way to the top of the mountain and you will find us. Luckily if you take a turn they either end at a locked gate or become impossible to use within 50 yards.

      Update on the weather.
It looks like the weather is on our side.
39-63 degrees with light winds is now the forecast.
If we have enough shooters the match is a go.

          I signed up plus 1.

I received two new orders for .375 builds in the last two weeks. Seems like the sport is catching on.

Shot my 50 BMG today using 240-258 grains of VV20N29 and a 794 grain borerider made by Dale Arenson at 10X in Arizona.
One of the regulars at Avenal was there so a shot out to Diver.
10 shots went from 2636 fps to 2847 fps which is for a 18 grain change in powder weight.
Total vertical was 1.123 with a 0.510 bullet or 0.613 inches. Not bad for 18 grains of variation.
