    Spuhr?

The Spuhr one-piece mounts are generally regarded as the top of the heap. And they look it, massive hunks of metal. And over $400. Gulp. I've never spent that much on a scope.

Then I see their Hunter line at half the price. Obviously less beefy. Will I notice the difference on a light recoiling rifle like a 6.5 Creedmoor with a medium weight scope like a 4-16x made in China or the Philippines? I'm never going to shoot bullseye, only steel. If I give up a tenth of a moa in consistency, I don't care.

Still over built for the application. Even a mount like TPS or DNZ work very well for standard rigs.

I like Spuhrs and run their ISMS mounts on my match rifles. That being said, are you interested in the Spuhr Hunter just because of the reputation of their other mount or is there a particular feature that it offers that you want? You may also check out the MPA mounts in a similar price range to the Spuhr Hunter mounts.

I was going to grab a Spuhr Hunter for a hunting rifle a while back and I actually ended up grabbing the MPA instead. Just worked better for my needs and the Spuhr Hunter was going to be unnecessarily very high. (Thats a case specific thing and may not apply to you).

Theres a lot of good options out there. To answer your question directly, if the Spuhr Hunter is what you want, quality will not be an issue. It really comes down to whether or not it fits your needs.

I use a Spuhr 4306 on a Ruger Precision Rifle, and an optic with a 34mm tube; yes, they are excellent, and rock solid.
If you are going to mount a lesser scope on a common hunting rifle, I’d consider a Warne steel mount; those have worked very well for me, and usually can be sourced for close to $100 or less.
If you never spend much on optics, I can’t imagine why you would purchase anything in their line; you likely wouldn’t realize any benefit.

and there's often an additional discount code for Brownells to be found on gun.deals.com as well

Yeah, mostly I was unaware of the Hunter line until I got a Black Friday email about them. They do have that weird jazzy "off axis" ring split.

If a one piece scope base and rings setup is what you're after, also look into the DNZ line. For $65.00 I have the Game Reaper model coupled to a Leupold on my 1957 Marlin 39A.

Warne Leupold MPA Larue all make nice mounts. I personally like the Warne and Larue product. Not really sure your getting much more for the money with Spurh. Nothing wrong with their line just stupid expensive.

Mpa one piece mount works great and is rock solid on my precision rifle.

Money is limited for almost everyone

Buy what works for you and you can expand / upgrade when need and budget allow.

If you are shooting $2/ shot Ammo..... using a $300 Chinese scope... any base and rings will get you on steel to 300

                          Get an Aadmount, pronounced "odd-mount."

Same thing, little more than half the price. You'll love it.

Just checked their website. Prices have gone up.
