I have the Browning B92 nee Winchester 1892 made by Miroku in .44 Magnum. I think it was made in the very late 1980s. I purchased it used four or five years ago.

I've started loading Magnum brass with Bullseye and a moly/powdercoat 205 grain lead rnfp to 1100 fps from it's 20" barrel in an effort to mimic one of the .44-40 ballistics options (there are at least two different bullet weights associated with that old black powder cartridge).
I have a late-model stainless Marlin with an excellent factory recoil pad for over-the-counter .44 Magnum (240 grain @ 1250+) and for 270 grain handloads at similar velocities.
The metal buttplate on the svelte, light weight '92 calls for milder fare.
The rifle is a wonderful example of the Model 1892, but they can have their problems just like anything else. I had problems with the ejector ram in my gun and eventually it plunged free of the bolt.
The ejector ram spring collar retaining arm was loose on it's two cross pins through a boss on the bottom of the bolt. I found another retainer on Numrich and installed it myself and now the gun functions normally.
I really like the Winchester 1892 design; it's one of my favorite creations of J.M.B., along with the "Yankee Fist" and the Ma Deuce. There are others, of course... the A5 shotgun, the BAR, and so on and so forth. I digress....

I have one in .357, I like it.
The action is still pretty stiff - probably < 1000 rounds through it.
I think it says .357 only, but 38spl works just fine.Comment

HW,
If memory serves me, she chose the 6.5 Creedmoor. Popular cartridge. Lots of hunting data available. Maybe not so much for the Long Ranger though. She should find many good choices of ammo to tune it.

HW,
I believe the Weatherby Vanguard action is made by Howa. Excellent action. Had breakfast with a well respected rifle builder Thursday. He loves Howa.
My new 308 bolt gun is a Howa 1500. I can attest to the native accuracy. Bore sight, test shot, adjust, x-ring group.
Send lotsa dead pig pics. lol

The one with the magazine that loads from the top is certainly a Winchester 1895, for the price being offered though I'd pass on the 1895.
The miroku firearms that I've owned functioned just fine, and they looked great. I've no qualms towards miroku's quality. Also, japanese workers do work their butts off, but they are compensated fairly - this isn't some cheap outsourced manufacturer.Comment

I bought a Miroku 1894 rifle in 38-55. Fit and finish was very nice, wood was pretty, shot very well. But, it had a tang safety and a sloppy trigger that was prone to light strikes.
Sold it off.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!
