URSA 2000 Yard October Match

We are holding our monthly match on Sunday October 18th for anyone interested in trying out 2000 yards.
I realize many will be hunting but is a great opportunity if the weather holds out to see what you can do at distance.
No Fees and No Out Duty makes it just that much better.
Please bring 60 rounds as we always seem to hold two matches per day and running out of ammo sucks especially if you are in it when you run out.
I had rotator cuff surgery so I won't be shooting just running the line and getting shooters on target.

We shoot approximately 3 miles west of the highglade lookout above UpperLake California and we start at sunrise so get there as early as possible or you will miss the first match.

Edit: the matches are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month. I mistakenly had the date as the 17th and corrected it.

If you want to shoot this event, you need to sign up, ONLINE (see below). The Match Director will decide how many shooters need to be signed up to move forward with this event. Unless the event is formally cancelled (as announced on this and other posting sites), assume it is going forward.

BTW...this will be the first event at which you can qualify for the URSA 3000 Yard Challenge (2021)...which, for the first time, will be held in NorCal (same venue as the October event announced above). More info to follow.

Directions to the match.
Take hwy 101 north to the hwy 20 junction just north of Calpella.

It is a long sweeping right-hand only turn.
From there you drive a half hour to UpperLake California and you will know your there because they have a roundabout in the middle of hwy 20.
Once past the roundabout you travel around 500 yards to Mendenhall road which is a left turn.
Mendenhall road turns into butts up against elk mountain road when you reach it turn left.
Your on elk mountain road for a mile and a half and you make a right onto Pitney lane which is a right turn only.
The only road off of pitney takes you 8 miles up the mountain.
When you reach the top of the mountain take a left onto French glade deer valley road about 3 miles until you see all the vehicles parked.

Results!!!!

We had 7 guns on the line and held two matches. The short distance was 2054 yards and the second distance as measured from the shooting lane was 2586 yards iirc?
At the shorter 2054 yard distance the wind was calm and conditions for our area where very good with everyone scoring hits or multiple hits.

At 2586 yards spotting your misses was critical and we had Scott win both matches. Doug finished second on the first match Happy Birthday Doug.

Notable mentions
Scott shooting a 37XC hit 7/10 in both 2054 yard distances and Ken Eng shooting a 510 DTC hit 5/10 both times.
Ken didn't have enough elevation in his base so he didn't move back. Ken and Scott both got achievement points and both are now the first two qualifiers for the 3K match in 2021.
Overall a good bunch of shooters who came to win.

Next match will be the 3rd Sunday in November weather permitting.

Thats awesome to hear Lynn! Still looking to make it out there when you first invited me a couple years back lol.
What degree of difficulty am i looking at for getting to that distance with a 6.5cm?
Either way ill make it whether i shoot or not.

Next match is 3rd Sunday in November and a 6.5 will do 2054 just fine. I have a fleet of 338's so just remind me to bring ammo and all is well.
