    Ruger american .308

I just purchased one for me and my son to use out to 600yds as a range toy. i read good things online about them so.. i then added a primary arms acss optic, magpul stock and bipod, and a surefire brake.

I was just wondering what everyone was shooting out of theres for the best accuracy. Or if someone maybe had some suggestions. I purchased some boxes of fiochi loaded with Sierra matchking and some black hills as well.
I havnt shot it yet, will be taking it out tomorrow to sight it in and see what it can do

Ruger Americans are pretty good rifles, especially for the money.

+1 to the Federal Gold Match, which also shot well out of my Ruger American (also in .308 Win). This ammo will reach out to 1,000 yards with a 20 MOA mount, Burris Signature Zee rings, and a good 3-9 magnification scope. It'll reach out to 800 easily with just a 20 MOA mount and that same scope.

Currently I'm using handloads with Hornady's 178gr BTHP Match bullet; this also shoots very well.

You've probably already shot it... short barrel = huge muzzle blast !
Stock (mine) is about a minute and a half rifle.
You can beef up the forend with a little J&B (or other plastic filler) on the
inside. Lots of YouTube videos on that... and reducing the trigger pull.

I'm sure you seen that he has upgraded his stock from the factory one.

                  Cowboy,
What powder and recipe you using for the "Hornady's 175gr BTHP Match bullet"?
I am doing 308 load development on that very bullet.

Man rifle shot great, I shot some 175gr SMK, at 100yd I was getting around 1in to 2in 4 shot groups, I'm sure the bigger groups were my fault and not the rifles, and it was pretty warm out haha.. i wanna try some more loads though

Glad your happy with it. I'd bet using 168 grain SMKs will tighten those groups up for you.
