    Rossi 92

Just got done changing the ejector and hammer spring in my 92 and it only took 7 hours.
Of course, I took time to polish a lot of the internals, and had to remove about .015 of material on the sides of the lower tang to get it to fit without tapping it with a nylon hammer.
    A good day's work.

Sounds like a good time. It took me 2-3 days, lots of beer and apologies to the lord for me to get one of my 92 Rossi's back together..I won't pull a single screw if I don't have too
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

        Nice

What barrel, finish and caliber do you have?

Till I got to your second sentence, I wondered what went wrong to require 7 hours for those relatively simple chores . . .
But after reading the rest, I thought, "only 7 hours?"
Lightening the load-gate spring was my most rewarding tune-up, but I haven't found anything un-fun about any time spent on an m92 (357 in my case).

              Yessir!

I did similar work (though not to the stock-to-tang interface) and for the money this is the sweetest little long gun I own. For the money, that is.

I went to Steve's Guns website a few years back after learning a few other things from some SASS fellers and their Marlin 1894 tuneups.

Read between the lines and went to work on this Rossi, stoning the bolt, etc and the yersuals. The trigger! was already a peach and that has been left alone. 16" blue in .357. What a neat carbine.

I bought the Steve's Gunz slick up DVD, worth every penny. Love my Rossi 92, .357 with a 16" barrel.

Mine is slicker than snot too, running the Palo Verde spring kit with some additional smoothing of parts here and there.

I used a video made by some British guy, filmed in sepia. I found that it's easier to assemble the trigger/hammer group if the gun is held upside down in a gun vise.
Put the Palo Verde spring kit in too, but I think I may have to go back in and put the stock ejector spring back.

I've gotten it down to about an hour or so if I hold my mouth just right and mumble the appropriate swear words. The first time I took one apart I didn't think I'd ever get it back together!

Are the interals the same as a Winchester 92?

Interesting..... some posts here indicate that the Rossi is a pain to take apart/put back together. The Winchester 92's are pretty straight forward, so that's why I asked. I have a bunch of '92's, and apart from taking care not to bugger up the screw heads, they are not that difficult a gun to disassemble/reassemble.

Disassembling and reassembling the Winchester '92, regardless of who makes it, is a daunting task for any first-timer. Once you've done it a few times, it's just another firearm.
