ghost ring barrel mount vs peep bolt mount - Rossi M92

Thinking about changing out the buckhorns on my Rossi.

Would you spend $30 for the ghost ring barrel sights or drop the $100 for the safety/bolt mounted peep sights(dove tail plug, plug screws)? Would the extra $70 be worth it for the peep?

    Ghost ring

    Peep
Steve's Gunz Adjustable Bolt-Mounted Stainless Peep Sight Safety Replacement [PS-02] - Peep Shown On Rifle To effectively use this peep sight, you will need to remove the barrel mounted rear and fill the dovetail cut in the barrel and plug the drilled and tapped holes under it with: PLUG SCREWS FOR ROSSI 92 RIFLES DOVETAIL SLOT BLANK - STAINLESS FINISH

    Thanks!

I'm not a fan of the safety pug sight because its mounted to the bolt. I do like ghost ring sights and have then on a couple Rossi 92s.

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Does the 2.75” one fit the Rossi or should i be getting the 1.875”?

-EDIT- just read that i need to go with the 1.875", but also read that you also need to pick up a taller Marble's brass-bead front sight. did you have you get new front sights?

I use the 2.75...the older Rossi's needed a taller front sight, at least mine did.

Oh yeah! Shoot the gun before you get a taller sight, make sure you need one. My two new Rossi's didn't need a taller sight.

Shoot me PM if you need a taller sight. I might have a few laying around.

I like peeps for shooting at range (75 - 200yds) but inside 75yds ghost ring all day.

I’d imagine most of my shooting will be within 75 yards. At least for now.

Plus at $20, it was a no-brainer for me

My 1975 Win Model 94 has a Williams aperture sight mounted to the side of the receiver. I take out the small aperture and use the larger threaded hole like a ghost ring. I have a ghost ring sight on my Marlin Guide Gun .45-70.

I use the original ones with two little mods.
I painted the bronze front bid with glow in the dark, helps in the last minutes of hunting, and in daylight, it is bright white, also highly visible, and on the rear, i painted a little triangle with the same glow in the dark. Helps tremendously. No need for anything else, at least for me.

The triangle looks similar to this:

The marbles bullseye rear sight goes on sale for $15 at midwayusa, $30 is way over priced imo.

The rear peep should be mat black, not shiny, but on the Rossi I would just stick with the factory sights or do it properly and use a williams FP rear receiver sight with Skinner square post front sight.

That gives the same sight picture as standard AR rifle sights or 1903A3 rifle sights. They were done that way for a reason!

                          For me show $19.99 +$6 shipping +$2.5 tax = $?

I like that ...... I'm going to have to give that a try.

I think smittty was comparing the Midway (the same one I linked in post #2) price to Steve's Gunz price on the Marbles ghost ring sights. Sales and free shipping never happen at Steve's and his shipping cost are crazy high.
