Always liked that model in 06. Waiting for pics and details.

I have the same one purchased from Buds in 2015! I absolutely love this gun; easy to shoot, easy to load, didn't break the bank. Been through a few long range outings with it. I am not a competition-level shot so all I can say is in the right hands this gun can accurately hit 1k.

Great choice and caliber this is one of the groups I got last year at this
time. haven't really got to shot it again because of range shut downs.
I run just a straight fixed 10x mildot scope. I got the rifle on sale for $535.

168gr BTHP SMK, or Hornady BTHP are the only Bullets I will use. Gonna dump the trigger for a Timney. Cannot beat the old 30-06, great round. A2

I would try it with the stock trigger before doing an upgrade. My stock trigger is
decent I don't really see where a better trigger could shrink my groups anymore. I was hitting steel at ASR at about 630 yards with ease just saying.
Good luck you made a fine choice.

              Sauer,

Which brand scope are you using? I have an older Leupold with Target Turrets. A2

Its an older Bushnell Tactical Elite fixed 10x mildot i got it for
$220 the only draw back is the turetts are in MOA. but if find
i can actually dial it in closer to the x at 100 because of the finer adjustments.
I don't like to dial come-ups anyway I just holdover.

Have you thought of the SWFA Super Snipers? A2

I got one on sale for $260 that was around Black Friday. Probably won't happen this years unless politics change in the next few months but keep your eyes open.

You may already know this, but just in case... if you plan on shooting to 1k or beyond, it's been known that the 168gr bullets will not stabilize well. With the 1:10 twist, I've always loaded 175gr+. My regular 1k load used to be the 208 Hornady Amax, now I use the Berger 210gr. I've read a lot about 190gr SMK working really well with the 06 though.

Sounds like a fun new rifle.

I also would suggest trying the stock trigger before buying a new trigger. Because I did that mistake before.

Regardless, it is OK to do whatever customization is in your budget and makes you happy.

                              I hope you enjoy it.
