Sling Options for a Lever Action

I have a Marlin 1894C with a rear barrel band that includes the attachment for a sling. There is no such stud on the rear stock. I could drill and install one but I am wondering if something like the the harness sling from Brass Stacker or something similar might be a better choice. Any suggestions or opinions?

Some Marlins come with both sling swivel studs, some don't.

This would not be considered "Modifying" the gun. It is a normal accessory that is needed on virtually any rifle used in the field. It would be considered more of a correction of an oversight.

The stud on the butt stock needs to be 3-4" from the toe of the stock.

Don't drill thru the Marlin Eye!

I didn't see a price on those slings which are really nice looking, however I'd bet they are not cheap and certainly more than a $5 stud and a $30 sling.

I wouldn't hesitate to put the stud in your stock, it is a 5 minute job and the proper thing to do if you don't know exactly how to do it, is to go on Youtube and find a video. It isn't that hard but there are some things you might not know.

With this advice I heartily concur, however, that Brass Stacker butt sling sling attachment isn't a bad thing, either.

Either way, yes, a sling is a must when on walkabout.

This is nice. $$$, but nice

Leather Harnessed Stock Cover Rifle Sling Combo for lever action rifles that do not already have a swivel post for attaching a sling. It's designed so that you can add a sling to your rifle without drilling the stock to add a swivel post. It also provides the extra functionality of a butt stock cover.
