Really happy with it! I got a chance to take it out and shoot it to 400... I think we downplay how far 400 yards really is, its a long shot! That's 4 football fields.
We shoot 6 inch steel gongs, so that's 1.5 moa out that far. It'll ring it pretty consistently. I was ringing the 4 inch at 300 yards all day long. This is more accurate than the factory 223 pencil barrel. I didnt shoot much paper besides a quick zeroing in, which went weirdly fast.
It has more drop than im used to with really fast 223s, but once I figured out holdover, its a decent amount easier to hit further out targets with the grendel. Its just so damn consistent.
I used an axis action, PTG bolt head. ER Shaw bull barrel in 20". I used a boyd stock, but they're really not very good stocks. I had to add pillars and bed it, now its alright. I figured out where the weight is on a axis trigger and fixed it, down to 1.9 pounds and completely drop safe.
Savage doesnt often get much love around here, but I think mine is fantastic. I can do all the work at home with a normally equipped hobby garage, and the results are great.
