    Henry Long Ranger

Hey guys, I hope all is well with you and yours. I'm hoping some members might have some experience with this gun, specifically the .308 with sights.
I don't think I have seen them priced this low.

Henry Long Ranger lever action rifle chambers .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .243 Win, .223 Rem with a 6-lug bolt and detachable magazine.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
    Happiness is a warm gun.

All is well here, hope the same for you.

No experience outside of looking at them on the web.

You probably saw that the same gun picture from your Henry link is used on the GB post.

Personally, I don't like sellers that use a manufacturers picture as a representation of what they are selling.
I want to see the actual gun I'm buying.
That's enough to keep me from bidding on it.

Mark, no personal experience, but, some guys on the Henry rifle forum really like 'em. You thinking of one?

Yeah, it's like buying a gun from buds. If you don't like it then you get to send it back for another roll of the dice.

I swear that I looked over the newer Rossi R92 .357 20" carbine (Buds) that I bought a few months ago. I had the gun for months before I saw how bad the front sight is canted. It's so bad you can probably see it from 20 feet away..but the gun shoots great..

What do you do, its looks bad but shoots straight?

I know what I'll do. Take my son with me to look over the gun
It's like buying .357 ammo with out your glasses. I've always wanted a .327 mag lever gun..

That model has been on my wish list. Although I list some motivation when I snagged a 308 Savage 99 for a good price.
One day I’ll probably pick one up, my experience with Henry rifles is they put out a great product.

            Golf,
No personal experience. But it is on my short list of mag fed levers with the BLR and 1895.

In the final analysis, it probably has more recoil than I would like. It is more suited for hunters than target/game shooters, I think.

If you get one, I promise to help you break it in. lol I'll be in line behind Penn and Apples for a turn with the trigger.

So, Buds covers the return shipping (if you don't accept the gun) and there is no restocking fee?

I always thought that was a sign that you needed a gun or two (rifle & revolver) in that caliber.

I think buds does with their membership , which takes a couple purchases to even out.
So if I pay the dues I have buy at least 2 guns per year, I don't want to waste momey
I sure do wish the reciever was blued

The one I looked at had a really gritty lever and trigger. I suspect it was just that one, but it was definitely beautiful.

                    Good point. ..
I'll have to search YouTube for some reasembling videos...
I have to hope that it's more like the Malin 94 as opposed to the Winchester 92...

My buddy has one in 223, real pretty tackdriver out to 200, solid, but I'll bet the .308 is gonna bark on your shoulder

Hey guys, I wanted to bump this back up for suggestions on a scope and mount. I'm looking at spending around $600.00 for both.

I found this Leopold scope for &450.00.. I really don't know if this is a good one..

There's a reason the VX®-3i 3.5-10x50mm has been one of the most popular models for decades; it just plain works in almost any hunting environment. Tight brush and long-range shots are no problem with this extremely versatile magnification range.

Mark, you don't need that much scope on that Henry LR .308. A 2-7 of some type will be plenty. Give me a call. I need to do some enabling here. Maybe a slim 3-9, but, a 2-7, oh yeah!

Thanks Tom, we're heading up to Utah in the morning for a little nation park fun. I'll give you a call next week when I get back

Cole needs a hunting rifle, I've read nothing but good things about this Henry. I already reload for .308 (AR-308) I'm hoping this will be the one..

I was hoping you would chim in. You've probably forgotten more about scopes then I'll ever know

Leupold makes a nice 33mm 3x9 scope, small and under 12 oz. It also has a front adjustable parallax turret, rare on a Leupold. The 2x7 model rersides on my .22LR Henry Golden Boy, a perfect mate. Remember: this is the Long Ranger, designed for umm, long range.
