    Mosin-Nagant mud test

I don't know if this has already been posted.

The comments under the video are funny as hell.

In Russia they say Mosin-Nagant: In the US we say FUBAR.

i have owned maybe 30 Mosins from lowly 1944 wartime production to a proper 1943 TULA PU sniper. I never checked a single one for head space. Some had pretty stiff bolt action but they all worked.
I never had one single surplus 7.62 54r bullet fail to fire. I went threw at least 6 [440 ] spam cans.Never had better groupings from modern retail ammo.
Like a T 34 tank it is ugly but does its job.

The most Sniper kills was a Finn with a Mosin Nagant, also Vasily Zaitsev top scoring Russian sniper again with a Mosin

Anybody who wants to laugh at a Mosin, I dare them to stand in front of the business end of a loaded one and see if they're still laughing then. Mosins are tough rifles that can shoot pretty well in decent hands, and if the rifle has been cared for and practiced with. Gee, sounds like most rifles! :-)

Agreed - The Russians built them for who they were going to use them; uneducated peasants, so they were made as simple possible and as rugged as possible.
                  I have several a laminated-stock 91-30, (gorgeous rifle) a Polish M44 (great fireballs!) and a Finn M39 (a absolute tac-driver!).

Being a great sniper is more about field craft and tactics than rifle. It's still a hunk of junk.

I have one made in 1939, we've always had s good time shooting it. It's cheap to shoot and easy to clean. I bet these guns have taken their share of large game here in the USA.
I recall seeing a couple of them on some of those Alaskan TV shows.

That one pictured above is awesome. Thanks for sharing General..

Simo Hayha, among many others, didn't think so. :-)

Your point about field craft and tactics is a good one. The old saying, "it ain't the arrow, it's the Indian" certainly applies. Is it super-refined like a Sturgeon action? Hell, no. But it will take out an enemy at 400 yards with either irons or a 1940's-era crappy Soviet-era WWII scope. That's good enough for me. :-)

BTW, my Soviet Izhevsk 91/30 shoots 1 MOA with factory Prvi Partizan 7.62x54R ammo. Can your 80-year-old rifle do that?

Got one on sale for $69 one time. Would've bought more, but I was just out of money. Best deal going for a rifle in modern times.

I thought the guy was gonna herniate himself.

Good example for the need of a fixed bayonet? Da!

Methinks the Nazi sticker on the end of the rifle will pass a mud test. Try cocking piece before turning the bolt. Oops!
