If it's not a collector rifle I would refinish the stock and let it go at that.
The barrel is 70 years old so bluing it is akin to polishing the valve cover on a 1974 pinto wagon in original condition.
When it quits shooting and put a new barrel on it that is the time to do any upgrades with the bluing and if you go stainless steel barrel just getting the action blued will save you some money as well.Lynn Dragoman, Jr.
