Howa 1500 6.5 with scope, bipod and muzzle break for $599. Suggested retail on their web site $1199 so $600 / 50% off. Good or keep saving for the M1A?

Mags are crap.
Stock is crap.
So it's a $600 barreled action to build on if you want a 6mm creedmoor.

A barreled action for this caliber runs at Brownells runs around $600.

If you want a competition rifle, you're probably better off doing something else. If you're punching paper or pinging steel and you don't care about making bugholes, it's probably fine.

I have a Howa 1500 in .223 with a varmint barrel that started out as a package. I put a more powerful scope on it for varmint shooting and I'm happy with the results.

Go for the M1A, much more real. I have a Howa/Mossberg 1550 and its ok, but no where near a M1A. I500 vs 1550 is mag well vs detachable mag.

Man I got the Howa 1500 in 308 heavy barrel with hogue stock last year for $299 at Turners. I wasn't even looking for a rifle but at that price I couldn't pass it up. I didn't like the stock, needed about 1.5" higher comb for a good cheek weld.
