No really. Circle the wagons and hunker down.
Here's the scenario. You've just received word of an horrific murder and dismemberment in the hood. The crime was interrupted by a family member returning home and the bad guy is on the lam, on foot. You know he is armed with a firearm and a large knife. The hood is lots of open rolling oak hillsides with the occasional house or two or three here and there on 2.5 acre lots. Ya get a text from a deputy friend that says don't open the door if there's a knock. Being an advocate of Clint Smith's adage that the purpose of a handgun is to enable you to fight your way back to the long gun that you never should have left behind in the first place, you find yourself in front of the safe.
The EMP has edc duty that day but there is something definitely reassuring about the heft of the big Springfield slabsides as you put it down on the workbench to change holsters.

Spare mag in the back pocket ok, now the long gun. There's that black thing in the back but thats not what ya grab. All the levers are in the front. I took the Marlin Guide Gun in.45-70 and the Marlin 94 in.45 Colt for the wife (she had her Sig 365 on already). Loaded them up and went back inside from the attached shop. Just finished an interior perimeter check of the house, all is secure and ...........there's a knock at the door.......!
We have a lateral window and so can see who is at the front door with out being seen. It was big Tyler from across the way with his Glock 19 on and a Win 94 (.30-30) in hand. He had our back while we did our chores and fed the horses in the waning light and then we had his while he did the same. Exterior perimeter check to see that no one had broken in while we were out and then went inside the three of us and started dinner while waiting for his wife to come up the hill from Bakerspatch. Bad guy was later killed that night in a shootout with the constabulary.
Whadya think? What lever would ya grab and why?
