    Rifle Recoil Pad Replacement

    Hi guys,

I own a 1968 rifle that has been sitting since new and the rubber recoil pad is all hardened and deflated. I need to replace it, however the new pad needs fitting. Do you guys know who does something like that in the LA area? I live in Glendale/Burbank/Pasadena area and don't mind if I have to drive a little. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

You can often get an excellent direct replacement recoil pad from Limbsaver
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Thanks for the info however my rifle is an odd one is a 1968 Austrian Voere Cougar 30-06...so the direct replacement is unlikely. I will check with them anyways

Ask calguns member ar15barrels, a superb local gunsmith located in the San Fernando Valley. It could be as straightforward as sanding the mounted new pad, using a belt sander and after taping the stock.

Click this link ---> ar15barrels and don't let the name fool you. This gunsmith is well-versed in all manner of antique and classic firearms in addition to the more-modern machinery. Good luck.

Another nod for ar15barrels. And you're pretty close by.

If you have a benchtop belt or disk sander it's easy as pie. There are even inexpensive jigs. But if you're only doing it once, just pay someone.

Good thing you're in SoCal. As of late, all real rifle shooters in NorCal are replacing
nfg rubber recoil pads with all steel rifle stock recoil pads.

Never saw John Wayne or Randolph Scot or any or the real men on the Ponderosa using a
rubber recoil pad on a rifle. If it is on television you know it has to be true.
