Am I missing out on something?

what is the use for the 2 round quiver on a rifle?

I think its mainly used in PRS/NRL. some stages are up to 12 shots, so the extra 2 rounds. I think the quiver is a great idea, you can stuff a few allen wrenches for emergencies too.

Usually called a Match Saver. If you get a wonky round or misfeed, eject everything and grab a round. Probably taken from shotguns in 3 gun, where a single round might be all you need.

        this

I've also shot stages where things like,
        "single feed only"
"no ammo in magazine at start signal"

even if you're only shooting a 10 round stage,
all it takes is 1 double feed, or a misfire, for you to need an extra round
