158g semi waddcutter do the best in my lever action carbine...pick your brand. Next best are round nose flat point in 158g, either 38 or 357 all work the same.

Any 125g loads tend to not feed reliably in 38 or 357 in my gun.

Those are the only two bullet styles I have shot through this gun.

Practice as much as you can. I'm a lousy shot to, I blame it on my eye sight.

I really do enjoy shooting a 357 levergun. There's something about this caliber, its great for plinking at the range or in the desert, it's a good caliber for home defense and at 75 yards and under it will work for hunting small deer and pigs.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I shoot 158g semi wadcutters in my Winchester 1873.

Maybe try out a box or two before you buy a case.

            I have an older Marlin 1894, and a Winchester 94AE both chambered in .357 mag/ .38 Special.

The only type of ammunition I have had issues with over the years have been .38 special SWC. Otherwise most .357 mag/ .38 special Semi-Jacketed SP, FMJ, HP, LRN, and .357 magnum SWC from many different manufacturers will feed and fire fine in both of my lever action rifles.

edited to add, before Prop 63 kicked in on Jan 1, 2018 - I ordered off of the internet a whole bunch of PPU brand .357 mag and .38 special in different types of FMJ, SWC, JSP, LRN, etc... I have had not problem with it in my two carbines so far.

                Great forum to search.
Many CAS shoot rifles designated .38 Special only, but a lots of them do have .357 rifles.

Thank you! I just bought a bunch of Geco .357 because it was on sale and I want to have something for when I pick up my rifle. I really hope it cycles well!
                  thank you again Darto!
