Henry All-Weather 357/38 - 38 Ammo Compatibility

While I was DROSing my Henry the other day I noticed in the manual that Henry only recommends 158 grain 38 special ammo. Lighter bullets can cause feeding problems.

Anyone with a Henry 357/38 had issues shooting 38? I have a crap ton of 38 but all of it is lighter than 158 grain.

Not with 158gr RNFP bullets. Those loaded fine. If you handload, load some .38 loads in .357 cases and zero issues at all. I haven't tried anything lighter than 158's.

It’s the longer nose of the 158 grain loads, short .38’s can hang up on occasion.

Ditto...only happens to me when cycling very fast. If I cycle slower, I never have issues.

just don't accidentally load up 11 38's in the tube. it'll bind up when you cycle it.
