If You had a choice of using Steyr picatinny rail and conventional rings or using Steyr scope mounts , which one would You use ?

I owned a SSG 69 for many years. I used Steyr rings because that was the only option back then. Get the Picatinny rail. it will give you more options.

I wonder , if picatinny rail that slides over the action and is secured with 4 set screws is as solid as Steyr ring mounts.

I have the $299 Steyr QD 30mm rings on mine (ouch!). If it had been available 20 years ago I would have gotten the picatinny rail and had more flexibility in scope mounting for less money. Edit: I decided to order one from here: https://www.optics-trade.eu/us/mak-s...yr-ssg-69.html $35 less than Steyr.
