You guys with new long range guns

Come out to Cuyama this weekend. To locate the range use Google maps and type in "Tri County Rifle Range, Maricopa".

We'll be shooting 600 yards Saturday and 1,000 yards on Sunday with time to practice (or first timers to try) in the afternoons. ( We have ranges from 100 yards out to 1,000 yards to practice on)

I'll be out Sunday morning and would be glad to help you out.

All the details are in the Long Range Shooting Forum in the Cuyama Match thread for October.

Ugh I would love to come out but I'm volunteering this saturday. Any way to get updated on future events?

Thank you so much for the invite. My rifle is still awaiting a few parts, but it is good to know where we can go to get started and get some guidance and encouragement.

The third weekend of every month we shoot on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I post updates a week or so before in the Long Range Forum.

We just installed electronic targets this weekend which speeds the matches up and no one has to work the butts to mark targets anymore.

Electronic targets are making things so nice.

Dane, bring your cellphone or a tablet. The electronic targets bluetooth directly to the phone/tablet. The tablets with the bigger screens make it nice to read.

The targets show every shot in the string with the location, score, impact velocity, the standard deviation between shots for velocity, etc..

I had a problem with my chargemaster when I was loading for the match and the electronic target showed that my standard deviation on impact was 23 fps with the high and low velocity difference of 120+ fps for about three bad loads.

These things will definitely make you a better shooter by showing you every mistake and tracking every shot.

Can we shoot with tactical style (with Brakes) bolt rifles at these matches?

Yes, we put you on the end of the line and put a blast shield between your muzzle and the other shooters. We won't swear at you too much, either.

It's all good. Santa Margarita Gun Club is doing similar E-targets at Camp Pendleton for you shooters in South OC/North San Diego.

Are these the electronic impact indicator for steel?

Are these matches steel or paper? Or both? Can we bring our own steel?

                            Paper targets.
The electronic indicators show you the placement of each shot overlaying the target.
No steel at either of the matches being mentioned.

We have a 5" and 44" gong at our range at 1,000 yards but that's only for practice, not shot during the match.
