    1894 Marlin in 45 Colt

Put a JM 1894 in 45 Cot in jail this morning. Next comes the longest 10-days of my life.

On the bright side, I have time to get all the reloading paraphernalia needed to load the caliber. Looking forward to the 45 Colt. So many powders and recipes to choose from. Going in, will focus on Titegroup and Unique for Cowboy plinking. 2400 for hotter apps.

Oh-oh! Now you've done it. Duece, believe me, 8.0-8.5gr Unique, 250gr LRNFP bullet, you're probably gonna stop right there! I haven't shot any jacketed bullets thru my Henry .45 Colt, So no help on 2400. Man, we'll be talking.
And BIG congrats on landing that Marlin! Wait till you shoot that .45 Colt.
golfish will be weighting in shortly I know.

I use Trailboss or Unique for fun loads and Win 296 and 250 gr jacketed bullet when I want something real warm.
Now if you don’t have one a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 colt makes a nice addition

I put an 1895 stock with a recoil pad on my 1894 Cowboy in 45 Colt. Makes it much easier to shoot, a little extra LOP helps me too. Went with adjustable peep and globe sights (Williams peep, Lyman 17 globe) rather than stick with the regular open sights or spoiling the lines with a scope.

That bullet screams cowboy congrats brother.

I always left the 45c alone because the ammo was so much $$ and it was hard to find.

Chris a Tom got me into reloading and that was that. I like 2400 for my pistol caliber lever guns. 16 grains with a 250 grain coated hard cast RNFP Missouri bullet for the 45c.
Put that cartridge on a table next to a 9mm..its almost laughable.

I put a ghost sight on the Winchester 92 last night. Going to have to try it out pretty soon. I have an SKS in jail so there's going to be an early morning desert trip coming up soon.

Here's a really good diddy on the 45 colt lever gun

                  Wow! Congrats, Duece!

See you on or about the 25th... my next Wednesday off work.

Maybe Penn and Golf can make it.

                    Apples,
Looking forward to the 25th. Should have the new 94 figured out by then and have some test loads to shoot. Cleaned 200 rounds of brass yesterday. Dies and projectiles should be in next week. Have all the rest "in stock" to reload 45 Colt.

I'll be in Bridgeport[X-12] on a deer hunt with a bud. He drew the tag. But, we'll be lever shooting pretty soon. Another .45 Colt joins the parade!

I found unique to be dirty. Titegroup is my goto now.

Lucked into a pile of 454 Casull brass that I cut down - can load some pretty stiff loads since my rifle and pistol can take much higher pressure compared to cowboy loads.

300gr cast bullets hit the gong super hard!

For a throwback experience load up some blackpowder (carefully). 45LC was originally a black powder cartridge.

I use a lot of Titegroup. It is my go to powder for .45 ACP and for moderate loads in .38 Spl, .357, .44 and .45 Colt. I also use some Win 231 and Unique when it is what I have on hand. The 250 gr RNFP bullets work great in lever guns.

20" round in 45LC is an uncommon version im a little jealous.

That's what my Henry has. My favorite lever rifle to shoot.
