    Mare's Leg length legality question

Mare's leg "pistol" carbines are 25" in length. 26 inches is the law for it to be a rifle, and thus legal to buy new in California.

My question is, why not put an appropriately longer butt pad or spacers on the Mre's leg to make it a "legal" rifle? It's would only have to add 1 inch on the current length.

    Am I missing something?

    Thank you for the advice!

No expert here but wouldn't the 12" barrel make it SBR if you added the extra inch?

I think they can be or have been registered as pistols here in Ca.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

You could plug the tube and make it a single shot handgun... but they've thought of that too. Unfortunately they're far to dangerous for Californians.

Can you get one and register it as a handgun?
Probably have to be a PPT..
I've never read anything positive about em, not one single thing, but that doesn't mean they're not cool. The coolest guy ever rocked one in the late 50s.

We can't buy these new here in Cali? What? It's not a semi auto?
            Is it a roster thing?

Mare's Leg is an off-Roster manually operated (lever-action) repeating pistol.

Since it's off-Roster and has never been semi-auto, it could be modified to be SSE2 compliant.
However, since 11-2018, while in CA, it will need to remain configured as a SSE2 compliant handgun.
Because changing it from a manually operated single-shot to a manually operated repeater would be considered making an illegal unsafe handgun.

you are suggesting making it an "other firearm" and i do not think california recognises "other firearm" in its system it has long guns and pistols
