    Savage 340 Refinishing Project

I recently purchased a very inexpensive Savage 340 in 222 Remington and it turned out to be a real tackdriver. I gave it the old TruOil treatment and I was pleased with the results. You can read the story here.

Nice job, and a great deal on sweet rifle.

I have a Savage Model 10 with a Leupold 4.5x14 chambered in .223 Rem. When I do my part, I can get 1" groups at 100 meters with factory ammo.

Savage rifles are underrated, in my opinion.

Well as mentioned, the rifle now wears a stock better than any Savage 340 straight from the factory. Which is how my 340s looks - have a 222 Remington and a 22 Hornet.

Nice set of articles - thank you.

I have a Savage 340 in .30-30, and it is a shooter as well. I tried lighter spitzer bullets in it, but Rem RN Corelokt 170 gr over IMR 4064 shoot well under an inch at 100 yards. I just sent it off to my daughter in WA, along with some other firearms. Hopefully, the grandsons will get into hunting....

I paid either $125 or $150 for it.
