Low recoil. 6.5mm bullets tend to have high ballistic coefficient and thus good inherent accuracy.

Should be a good setup for casual target shooting.

Picked up this caliber as it was a new kid on the block and have been impressed with it, but haven't stretched its legs out past 600yds yet. Accurate and ballistics are forgiving. If you just punching paper I was getting .5 or less groups at 100.

If you reload its chief recipie utilizes H4350 but can always use others. Haven't experimented with other grain weight bullets besides the 140 ELDMs.

Shooting off a bench at paper

What’s the recoil like on the 6.5

          Accuracy?.

          Thanks
The axis has a thin hunting barrel. It will heat up fast. If you want to shoot 5 shots every half hour. You will be fine.
A better choice would be the Ruger predator. Or the Ruger with the magpul stock.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

There's this ^ Remington 783 24" heavy barrel with plastic stock for $342

but think I'd rather have this Remington 783 26" heavy barrel laminate stock for $453 https://grabagun.com/remington-85748...mint-bolt.html

I'd take either one of these over a Savage Axis and I'm usually a Savage fan.

                I was an a .308 Shooter ( M40A1 ) now I’m a 6.5 CM also in a M40A1 package, reloading and shooting paper.

                Considering a 6.5 X 55 Swede build since my first 6.5’s were M41b’s.

You won’t be disappointed in performance of the 6.5 and the recoil is not much. I have been shooting the Tikka platform and with the Ballistic AE app, everything was spot on out to 800 yards.
